Dr. Massimo Michelotti is an orthopedic and traumatology surgeon since 1993.
His orthopedic therapies go from the Knee, the Shoulder, the Ankle and the Hip traumatology. Dr. Massimo Michelotti has an experience of over 16.000 orthopedic surgeries of the Knee, the Shoulder, the Ankle to the Hip.



In average he makes almost 800 surgical treatments per year:

  • Arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder and ankle focusing on sport's traumatology,
  • Arthroscopic ligament's reconstruction surgery, using biological and artificial implants,
  • Prosthetic surgery of the knee, shoulder and hip.

He is a young doctor always questioning himself and searching the best and most up-to-date techniques to heal his patients. Intense is the research activity for completing and updating and in particular for:

  • New surgical techniques
  • Development of stem cells

Born in Pisa, Italy, December 1st 1962, Dr. Massimo Michelotti has been practicing any kind of sport, mostly soccer, tennis, skiing and windsurfing.

It is because of his great sport passion, his precision and manual skills that Dr. Massimo Michelotti starts medical school in 1984. The school is the Medicine and Surgery University of Pisa, where he ends up achieving graduation in order to help athletes like him.

1993 He graduates with the thesis: "anterior cruciate ligament injuries, treatment and rehabilitation"
1998 Degree at the School of Specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology, University of Pisa. "New technique in anterior cruciate ligament sutures, surgical treatment and rehabilitation", in collaboration with Dr Kevin Stone MD, of the "Stone Clinic" in San Francisco, California.
Since 1994 Dr. Massimo Michelotti performs surgical treatments at the Casa di Cura Privata San Rossore in Pisa and Centro Chirurgico San Paolo in Pistoia.
Since 2008 he performs surgical treatments at the Hospital "Piccole Figlie" in Parma.
Since 2012 he performs surgical treatments at the Casa di Cura Villa Igea in Acqui Terme (AL) and at the Ospedale Privato San Francesco in Ravenna.



Carreer:

1995-2004 He attended as a fellow the "Stone Clinic" in San Francisco, California, where, with Dr. Kevin Stone MD, conducted and participated in surgical publications focused on arthroscopic knee surgery in athletes, meniscal transplantation, ligament reconstructions.
He attended as a fellow also the "Pacific Medical Center" in San Francisco, California, where with Dr. Eugene Wolf, MD, conducted surgical research on shoulder injuries in sports and participated to the development of the "trans-fix" reconstruction technique of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee.
1998-2003 He served as Medical Director of 1° level at the Department of Orthopedics Hospital of Livorno directed by Dr. M.Spinelli. Over 5000 surgeries
2003-2009 Orthopedic consultant of the female Basket Livorno.
2003-2010 Consulting Surgeon for the pathologies of the shoulder and knee at the ASL n ° 1 in Tuscany Massa Carrara, working at the Hospital of Carrara, Fivizzano and Pontremoli. Over 3500 surgeries
2003-2011 Orthopedic consultant Carrarese Soccer.
